St. Peter's Business Services

St. Peter's Business Services

St. Peter’s Business Services is a ministry of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.  Our mission is to assist congregations to manage effectively.

Our primary mission is training on all aspects of financial management, strategic planning and governance issues. This includes:

  • A four session set of workshops on the basics of church accounting, tax issues, strategic planning and auditing.
  • Webinars offered through the Parish Resource Center of Long Island
  • One hour training customized for each parish. Sessions have included how to interpret financial statements, analysis of long range financial  trends, good congregational government, responsibilities of governing boards and other topics as requested.
  • One on one coaching of new finance and management leaders of congregations.

All training is free. We will gladly meet with your team to explore how to improve your planning and management skills. We will support your congregation at no cost during the implementation of improvements. See the Learning Opportunities page for schedules and resources, or email us at spbs.splc@gmail.com

For those congregations for whom training is not sufficient to acquire a sound financial process, we can provide quality financial administrative support to produce monthly financial reports, annual reports, tax documents and other related tasks.

The St. Peter’s Business Services solution provides skilled financial records management expertise to congregations at affordable cost. The solution:

  • Provides accounting skills for non-profit accounting,
  • Provides appropriate accounting software and systems,
  • Reduces the workload on congregational volunteers, and
  • Permits persons with business skills but not accounting expertise to serve ably as Treasurer.
  • Provides automatic backup and archiving of financial records.

St. Peter’s Business Services provides a quality solution with a team of persons with shared responsibilities and experience,  including two or more local congregational members and a financial expert from St. Peter’s Business Services. A team arrangement permits flexible adaptation to each congregation’s situation.  Click here to download our brochure and for more information regarding our services contact us at spbs.splc@gmail.com.
